Arts
South Florida may be known for its Atlantic Coast beaches, but the arts have not been forgotten in its waterfront communities. When it comes to artistic pursuits, Fort Lauderdale proves itself very progressive for a city that prides itself on its outdoors activities. A number of museums, art galleries and an art school call the city home. Plus, there’s the Florida Grand Opera, the Broward Center for Performing Arts Center, the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir and even a children’s theater.
The centerpiece of Fort Lauderdale’s artistic offerings is the heralded Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District, which runs from Southwest 7th Avenue to Southwest 2nd Avenue. Here residents and visitors alike will find everything from upscale arts to an active night club row that boasts live entertainment. This district is home to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the Museum of Art, the opera house, and more. In addition, it also houses more than 17 restaurants, 10 clubs and more.
Location: Fort Lauderdale is located about three miles north of Miami on Florida’s east coast. In addition to oceanfront landscape, the city has 25 miles of Intracoastal waterways and 165 miles of navigable canals.
